"Spreading Joy In the New Year"
Dear all,
Greetings from Korea! It's already nearly the end of January, and hopefully with that the end of some blisteringly cold weather here--our condolences to the guests that visited us this week, who really happened upon a bitingly cold week for travel. Regardless of whether you work in Fahrenheit or Celsius, I think we can agree that when it says -10 on the thermostat, it's not exactly a great time.
Still, not even the cold can put down PACOM's fire. Let's get to it.
Guests
This week was full of guests for PACOM (the first international guests of 2024), with two separate guests from American and a large French contingent on site. I do have a lot of sympathy for our guest from the southern US, as he happened to visit on the day when we had the coldest day of this winter so far--those of you who track the NFL playoffs, remember what happened when Miami visited Kansas City in -11 wind chill.
Still, the visits, conversation, and inspections all helped to both strengthen existing bonds or to help forge new ones. We believe that our new guest from the US especially will be a great partner for PACOM moving forward, as we share the same goals of a long-term, sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership. We are very much looking forward to working with our new partner for a long time.
Philanthropy
While we've been working diligently at our main business--prinitng and binding--we haven't forgotten that we are a part of a larger world. I've mentioned in a previous e-mail that PACOM has put forth substantive effort into becoming a greener manufacturer; this time, let us show you what we've been doing on the philanthropy side.
These are pictures from the village of Ngombengo in Malawi, taken shortly before Christmas. PACOM has partnered with the Water is Life Project for several years, helping establish wells to provide water to communities in need. Maybe not philanthropy on the scale of Bill Gates, but it is honest effort and money given for a noble cause, and we are proud of what we have accomplished.
We will look for more ways to help out our fellow people in need moving forward.
Lunar New Year
The Lunar New Year falls on February 10th this year, a Saturday. Hence, PACOM (and many other companies) will be off on Feb. 9th and Feb. 12th as part of the holiday. Even if you don't celebrate the Lunar New Year, make it an excuse to hug someone you love--because seriously, all of us could use a hug, don't you think?
That is all for this edition of PACOM Update. Until next time!
