“A New Base of Operations”
Issue 48: 2022. 3. 11. – “A New Base of Operations”
Dear all,
Greetings from PACOM! We have now entered March, the bitter cold is slowly retreating, the first flowers are showing signs of life. Spring is inexorably inching closer.
On a more somber note, the news is occupied by a war that seemingly nobody except one man wants to fight. A cynical quote I have heard about war is that "war is where the old ad bitter trick the young and angry into killing each other" (from Grand Theft Auto 4, of all places); let us hope that as few people as possible are taken away by the bitter will of a few old men.

A New Base of Operations
In early March, PACOM's sales teams relocated to a new office, located about a 10-minute walk away from the original PACOM facility! A lot of commotion and labor went into the relocation, but in the end, we are happy with our new arrangement. Plus, it gives the original PACOM facility more room to operate, and add functions that were previously constrained due to space restrictions.
We look forward to offering the quality PACOM service you've grown accustomed to from a more modernized building. Take a look for yourselves!
Upgrade update
As mentioned, we'll be upgrading some of our equipment in the near future. We are scheduled to receive a new board book production line, as well as a new collator and folding machine to revamp the tools of our trade. Most of the equipment is scheduled to arrive in mid-to-late March, so we'll keep you posted on when they arrive!
Spotlight: Topix Media Lab's Media Lab Books - The John Wayne Complete Cookbook
I'll confess; I'm a little too young to have experienced John Wayne in his heyday. To me personally, he's kind of like Elvis Presley--I know he was a big deal back in the day, but I never got to directly experience his "prime," so to speak. Still, courtesy of our partnership with our friends at Topix Media Lab, I got to at least indirectly see what "the Duke" was all about.
At PACOM, we've completed a few projects which handle the John Wayne trademark, but I personally am a fan of the John Wayne Complete Cookbook--
if I could eat like how John Wayne did and not worry about hypertension, I darned sure would.
The book, both in content and in presentation, feels like how I imagine John Wayne from what I have seen of him--hard-hitting and to the point, with a certain force or weight. Filled with images that are sure to ruin anybody attempting a diet, I'd like to think that we did the spirit of Mr. Wayne justice by showcasing the product in rich and vivid color, as well as a solid hardcover to drive home the point.
One detail of the book I find rather amusing is that the book immediately dives into steaks in the first chapter. Normally, a cookbook follows the standard course of a meal--appetizers to start, salads, and then the main course. However, the John Wayne Complete Cookbook eschews with that and dives straight into cooking steaks; I think I can see the appeal the man had just by that small detail
That is all for this edition of PACOM Update. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go grill a steak. Until next time!
Best regards,
Yu Bum Kim
